Why Are People Moving To Florida?
February 22, 2022
It’s no secret that Florida attracts vacationers to its sunny beaches and magical theme parks every year, but why are people moving to Florida? In 2019, before the era of COVID-19, Florida recorded an estimated 131 million visitors. In 2017, Florida generated about $90 billion in revenue from tourism. With everything Florida has to offer, it’s no mystery why so many people choose to spend their vacations in the sunshine state.
People just love Florida! They come from New England and the midwest to escape the cold. They come from all over to enjoy the white-sand beaches. Families come to spend a week at Disney World or Universal Studios. Spring breakers come to party in South Beach or Destin.
In addition to its booming tourism industry, lots of people are moving to Florida every year. The sunshine state is one of the fastest-growing states by population and the Florida Office of Economic & Demographic Research projects 845 new residents per day between April 1, 2020, and April 1, 2025. Almost 330,000 people moved to Florida between April 2020 and April 2021. Move.org reported Florida as the #1 destination for moving Americans in 2020. For the last few years, Florida’s population grew at double the rate of the entire U.S. population.
